I had a mom and dad who loved each other,
and through their 50+ marriage
were joking and affectionate with each other
all their lives.
But there is no evidence of their lively personalities
in the traditional, prom-type poses and portraits they
(and all the parents of that time) get taken of them.
And when they pass, these bland, photos
are all that their children have to recall
of the vital, real people they were.
So, in my portraiture, I seek always to create a state of mind
that encourages a couple to express their "lovey dovey" feelings for each other.
This portrait always lightens the mood of the couple:
they smile in recognition of the feelings it creates.
How great for a couple to have a visible image
with energy about renewing their love for each other,
What a great way for children to see and remember seeing
their parents as real people with love in their eyes.
My mission as a Portrait Artist is to capture the feelings of love in a lasting way - for now
and for later.
